Congratulations to Keith Anderson our 2008 Creek Advocate of the Year.

History

The Santa Clara County Creeks Coalition was formed by county creek advocates in 1990 and operated until 1997.

Today

The Santa Clara County Creeks Coalition has been resurrected to provide a voice for the creeks and streams of Santa Clara County.

We recently received the Santa Clara Valley Water Districts Environmental Stewardship Award which is given only once every five years.

On November 17th we held our first annual Creek and Watershed Conference and it was a tremendous success. We hosted 24 poster sessions for the over 140 attendees who came.

One highlight of the event was the awards given to Linda Elkind and Lawrence Johman for their tireless work on Santa Clara County Streams.

This year a three page Creeks and Watershed Resource Guide was include to help our community become more connected.

We also distributed copies of the Creekside News, our yearly newletter for the Creek and Watershed community of Santa Clara County. You can download a 1.1 MB copy here.

We were also honored to have Assemblymember Ira Ruskin address us. Ira praised our work and offered encouragement to advocates who he pledged to support for meaningful change.

Our Program Director Richard McMurtry delivered a moving inspirational presentation leading to cheers from the crowd.

Our event was video taped and a DVD of it will be available soon so check back often.
